Smart phones are all the rage; they connect you in ways no other cell phone can. When the fad started, it used to be just Blackberry phones, but now you can get an iPhone, phones running Windows Mobile, or the new S60 phones. But which one is right for you?

The iPhone is one of the newer phones, developed by Apple, to enter the smart phone wars. On top of regular functions, you can use the iPhone to listen to music, browse the Internet, take pictures, and send text messages and e-mails. But the iPhone is different in that you can get new applications to expand the default functions of the phone. It operates using a revolutionary touch screen interface.

The Blackberry is the classic business user's smart phone. E-mail is its bread and butter, but recent models have expanded on its functions. This still is the go-to phone for those business people on the go, simply because of its classy style and ease of use. It's the most popular smart phone because it does things right. It's a standard phone in that it uses a traditional keypad interface, but it also sports a full QWERTY keyboard.

There are a lot of phones running Windows Mobile, too. These phones are in essence giving you Windows functionality in a portable space, and act like the previously popular Pocket PCs. These phones are great if you want to be able to access Windows documents and edit them on the fly, and usually come in some pretty sleek looking phones. Most of these phones come with full keyboards too, because they're designed to be doing a lot of text entry.

An S60 phone is any phone that runs on software based on Symbian OS. The key to S60 is that they are very Internet-oriented phones, which means that you can be connected online, anywhere. Applications can also be added to S60 phones, so they are the main rival to the iPhone when it comes to flexibility. LG, Nokia, and Samsung are the biggest users of S60.

All of these phones provide different advantages and disadvantages, so your best bet is to try them out, and ask a sales representative from your closest wireless carrier. Get a good feel for the phone, and pick one that best suits your needs.
